How far do you think you could run and walk in 12 hours? The race runs from Friday night at 8:45pm until Saturday morning at 8:45am — finishing 45 minutes before the 5k start. A great test physically and mentally. Want your first marathon? In 12 hours you could even walk one if each mile is just under 28 minutes.
Fuel through the night
Food and drinks fuel you all night; take breaks as often as you like. Expect quesadillas, grilled cheese, avocados, chicken broth, soup, rice, snacks, drinks, and more — cooked through the night. Order as you pass and it’ll be ready on your next lap. Hot drinks including coffee. Free for runners and volunteers; available for purchase for others.
How it works
- Each lap is 1 mile. Only complete laps count (except exact marathon / 50k / 100k turnarounds).
- Timing table near start/finish marks each lap.
- Direction changes after 4 hours and again after 8 hours (see schedule).
- Bring a chair, footrest, change of clothes, blankets — get comfortable near the start/finish aid area.
- Napping permitted but not encouraged. Friends & family welcome to hang at start/finish.
- No pacers. No dogs. No age minimum — parents judge capability; adult family member must be present for children 12 or younger.
- No minimum miles. Set your own goal. Competitive but typically relaxed.
Arrive by 8:00pm Friday for bib & instructions. Race starts 8:45pm sharp counterclockwise; switches at 12:45am and 4:45am.
Bring a headlamp or flashlight (& extra batteries) for the unlit back portion of the loop.
Awards at the 8:45am ceremony. Bonus: all 12 Hour participants can also run the 5k free if desired!
